Tracking your 0% balance transfer card

How to use Clearr's debt tracker to monitor a 0% balance transfer — countdown, interest-free period, and payoff date.

What a balance transfer needs

A 0% balance transfer gives you an interest-free window — typically 12 to 30 months — to pay off a transferred balance without paying interest. Clearr tracks three things: the current balance, the 0% end date, and your monthly payment. From those three numbers, it tells you whether you'll clear it in time.

Add your balance transfer card

Add the card as a liability account. Enter the current balance (what you owe today), the card name (Barclaycard, MBNA, Virgin Money, etc.), and set the account type as '0% Balance Transfer'. Then enter the promotion end date — you'll find this on your statement or in the provider's app.

Set your monthly payment

Enter your minimum payment and your planned payment. If your planned payment is the same as the minimum, Clearr will flag whether that's enough to clear the balance before the 0% period ends. If it's not, it'll show you the monthly payment you need to make. Adjust your allocation plan accordingly.

The countdown

Clearr shows you the number of months remaining on your 0% period and whether your current payment plan will clear the debt in time. If the 0% period ends and you still have a balance, most cards revert to a standard APR of 20–30%. The countdown makes that risk visible every time you open the dashboard.
