How to use the property deposit goal

Set a property deposit target in Clearr and track every pot, LISA, and savings account contributing to it.

Start with the number

Before you can track progress, you need a target. A property deposit in the UK is typically 5–20% of the purchase price. On a £350,000 property, a 10% deposit is £35,000. Set that as your goal amount. If you're not sure of the property price, use a realistic figure for your target area — you can update it later.

Link your accounts to the goal

Your deposit might live across multiple accounts: a LISA, a cash ISA, a Monzo pot, a Starling space. In Clearr, you link each of these accounts to the property deposit goal. The goal bar fills as the combined balance grows. Every contribution to any of those accounts moves the bar.

Factor in the LISA government bonus

If you're using a LISA, remember the government adds 25% on top of your contributions — up to £1,000 per year. Clearr calculates your bonus based on your tax-year contributions and includes it in your deposit total. This is often the detail people miss when estimating their timeline.

Set a target date and work backwards

Enter the date you want to have the deposit ready. Clearr calculates how much you need to save each month to hit it. If that number is too high, adjust the target date. If the monthly number is manageable, add it to your allocation plan so the saving is built in before payday arrives.
