Setting up your LISA tracker

How Clearr tracks your Lifetime ISA balance, annual allowance, and government bonus — built around actual UK tax year rules.

What the LISA tracker covers

The LISA tracker shows your current balance, how much you've contributed this tax year (April 6 to April 5), how much government bonus you're owed, and whether you're on track to hit the £4,000 annual cap. It also flags the property cap (£450,000) so you know where you stand on eligibility.

Connect your LISA account

In Clearr, add your LISA as an account with type 'LISA'. Enter the current balance from your provider — Tembo, Moneybox, Nutmeg, or wherever you hold it. Clearr uses April 6 as the tax year start, so contributions are counted correctly from that date.

Log contributions as transactions

Each time you transfer money into your LISA, log it as a transaction on that account. Clearr tracks your year-to-date total and shows how much room you have left before the £4,000 cap. The 25% government bonus is calculated automatically — you'll see what you're owed once your contributions clear.

Understanding the bonus timing

The government bonus is paid monthly by HMRC to your provider. It typically arrives 6–8 weeks after your contribution. Clearr tracks this separately so you know the difference between your contributions and your total balance including bonus. Don't withdraw early — the 25% penalty applies to the whole amount, not just the bonus.
